A site is never just a site. It carries history, serves programs, channels water, blocks wind, and shapes how people move through the world. Site Design Studio is about learning to read all of that before picking up a pen.

The 2nd year design studio moves through inventory and analysis, case study investigation, and two design projects of increasing scale and complexity. Students learn to layer information across sun and shadow, movement and use, time of day and season into frameworks that generate design decisions rather than simply describe existing conditions. Short lectures introduce typology, precedent, and design theory, with design skills establishing through iteration: desk critiques, peer reviews, and the steady accumulation of drawings that eventually become something worth defending.

Projects balance collaborative analysis with individual design authorship. The expectation is consistent daily progress, honest self-assessment, and presentation work that communicates both the concept and how it was developed.
